History of our College
Given that over 50,000 Greek speaking persons live in Oakleigh and the surrounding districts (over 41% of the total Greek speaking population of Melbourne), a need for a school was apparent to the leaders of our Community.
The rationale for establishing a College, was initially and primarily to satisfy the educational needs of families of Greek background, living in the South Eastern suburbs, as well as providing an alternative educational facility for those in the wider community seeking the special curriculum and unique philosophy offered by this College.
The College was initially registered as a primary to year 8 facility with 91 students. In the year 2000 the enrolment was 743 boys and girls, in year levels Prep to year 12.
The educational needs of the Community are catered for by the Day School, the Oakleigh Greek Orthodox College - Saints Anargiri. The College is a fully registered Prep to Year 12 Day School, established in 1983, that also provides an After Hours Cultural and Language Educational facility.
Until the beginning of 1990, all students were accommodated in temporary facilities; either old houses or portable classrooms. These facilities were made available to the College by the parish of the Greek Orthodox Community. From 1989 onwards, the College with final financial assistance from the Commonwealth Government, was able to begin construction of permanent educational facilities in which to accommodate its student population.
With Federal Government assistance, the first phase of the permanent school building complex commenced in 1989. This was completed in 1990 and now houses the Secondary Component of the College.
Ιn 1994 the Primary School building was also completed, again with the financial assistance of the Commonwealth Government.
Ιn August 1996, the Library/Adiministration building of the College was completed.
At the end of 1999, the Community/College purchased the Child Care Centre situated in Clapham Road adjoining the College property. This has since been refurbished and now functions as the College's Early Learning Centre.
In 2001 a Sports Complex was constructed and completed providing all the necessary physical education and health and human development facilities and services so necessary for a Community and College such as ours.
In 2001 the lower level of the Community Hall was refurbished to provide 3 modern class rooms now called the Prep Wing. As part of this refurbishment, a Multi-Purpose Hall was also created from the old administrative offices used by the College which also was the location of the first Church of our Community.
In 2004, the Arts/Graphics wing was completed.
In 2007, the Hospitality, Multimedia and VCE Common Room was completed.

The College seeks, through the teaching and practise of the Greek Orthodox faith, to create a caring environment in which learning is optimised; one which tolerates and supports individual differences, values equity and justice and aims for all students to reach their full potential.
