2013 National School's Event

I wish to pay tribute to the dedication and professionalism of our staff following the highly successful hosting by Oakleigh Grammar of the National Schools Event. The 2013 event has been heralded as THE BEST EVER in terms of organisation, planning and camaraderie between students and staff. In fact this year we hosted the largest number of students from our 6 sister schools since the inception of the event. I received much positive feedback from fellow Principal’s Heads of Sport and others commenting on our hospitality and warmth of our staff and students towards our guests. This event encompasses a wide range of sporting activities, a spoken arts festival and a grand dinner. There are too many staff to thank for this newsletter but I do wish to commend Mr Greg Joyce, Head of Sport, for his tireless effort in ensuring that the 2013 games would in fact be the best ever.

Congratulations are also extended to Mr Louis Panagopoulos, Ms Kiki Kousourakis for coordinating an exceptional Spoken Arts Festival; Mrs Sharron Frame for coordinating the Grand Dinner which is always a highlight of this event and we were fully entertained by DJ George Ross; all sport convenors and coaches of our sports teams did an outstanding job.

I include a short part of an email from All Saints Grammar:

“….. I thought it was important to tell you that you and your staff did a fantastic job hosting ……All venues were outstanding, convenors extremely professional and accommodating and students very helpful. It was a very well thought out and organised event that has set the standard for future events which is a credit to yourself and your school…..” (Email sent to Greg Joyce, Sunday 12 May).
